Dietary Influences on Health

Certain dietary factors may influence the pigs ability to resist infection to an important degree, especially in the case of enteric diseases. These factors are usually less important in maintaining herd health than are major tools such as pig flow, vaccines, biosecurity, and genetic resistance, but some of them appear powerful enough to be quite useful. The purpose of this paper is to review the evidence now available on the impacts of dietary factors on resistance to enteric disease in the pig.
